RE: [pyrnet] Pyr Paranoia

Title: Message
Oh Trudy!!!

Now with Miss Tundra our 2 year old Pyr, if a leaf falls, a plane flies overhead, the UPS truck is 5 miles away or a raindrop falls from the sky, she is away from her food and out to the property wanting to scare it away and make sure it never returns.  Same with my male Pyr Czar.....and they will leave their wonderful bowl of food in the nice warm house to go outside, perch on their hill on opposite ends to secure every parcel of property and family...without even caring if they ate the last drop of food.

Now, on the other hand, with Osa, our 3 year old Newfoundland, an F5 tornado, a wildfire in the woods, a hurricane, or tsunami,  will not tear him away from his food.  He will stand there until every last trace of a crumb and slobber is absolutely licked dry. And he already knows.....that if the Pyrs decide to leave their food bowls to go outside and work.....mom gives him their leftovers!

Your Pyr is perfectly normal!  :-)

Subject: [pyrnet] Pyr Paranoia

Hi all - I have a question for everyone - Just wondering if my year and a half old boy, Orso, is normal or actually has a mental problem.  Last night he had one of his scenes - it was dinner time and the wind had just started blowing,  Orso eats outside.  I was just ready to put his food down and he suddenly caught the smell of 'something' and he was off - head up running the yard and barking - and so it went for the next 2 - 3 hours - he never did eat and was on edge all night.  I live out in the country so neighbors are not nearby and don't mind the barking - so that is not a problem.  I just feel bad when he gets so paranoia and I can't get his mind off of it.

So, tell me please, is this just a Pyr thing - or is he overly dramatic?

Thanks all,

LoLa & Orso's mom, Trudy
