What is the best way to help my Pyr with the heat? Will they use a small swimming pool to cool off in when they're outside? I have two Pyrs. Lily loves water in any form, she plays in her wading pool and also plays in the sprinkler, the rain and the snow. Shelly hates it and will have nothing to do with it. She even squints her eyes if she has to walk in the rain!
Other ways to cool them are to put ice cubes in their water dish. Some love it - some don't seem to care. I also put a floor fan in a spot near the favorite sleeping place. You can freeze a tub of water and put it in front of the fan. Lily especially loves that. I water their favorite digging places every night (we live in a very sandy area) and then they can dig and sleep in the damp part. They have the option of whether to be inside or outside during the day. Lily especially loves to sleep on the uncarpeted floors when she is inside.
