[pyrnet] Fw: OH:URGENT! NEED Great Pyr Rescue

I debated on whether or not to forward this. But, since people
were just asking about this dog, I thought we could learn from
this. I left the entire message intact. One of the hardest things
we have to do in Rescue, is make life and death decisions for
dogs. It's a bit easier when the dog is a dangerous dog, and is
people aggressive. But sometimes, it comes down to a matter of
money. That said, I have no idea how "old" this particular dog
might be, nor what type of mange she has. Either Sarcoptic or
Demodectic. But, treatment can be both long, and expensive. VERY
expensive. Sometimes, Rescue has to make the decision to "Not"
spend $1000.00 to save one dog (figure is arbitrary, as I have no
idea, but is being used to make a point here) or do you say "No,
we cannot take in and save this dog."  and spend that $1000.00 to
save 10 other dogs? Depending on the "type" of mange this dog
has, it is probably not suitable to be taken into foster care,
and would have to be boarded with a Vet who has an isolation
kennel. Couple that with the expense of treatment for the mange
itself, and you're probably looking at well over the $1000.00
figure I mentioned earlier. Ohio GP Rescue has LOTS of dogs. It's
not as bad as in Texas, but it's pretty bad there. Sometimes, you
have to let one go to save a lot of others. Sad, but true. There
is just never enough money to pay for other's irresponsibility.
