In my case, I could no longer afford horses, so I opted for large
dogs instead. <G> Perhaps someday i will rejoin the horse world.
I do miss it. Especially working with those who had been owned by
'the less than enlightened and caring'. I got a great deal of
satisfaction out of bringing around those who had lost their
sense of trust, and turning them back into the loving, confident
and trustworthy saddle horses they were meant to be all along.
LOTS of patience and positive reinforcement. Only had one that
could not be brought around and had to be euthed as he was a
dangerous animal. A product of some really severe abuse and
neglect. Very probably brain damaged as well.
