Marci, please don't be disheartened. Although there may not be a "local
club", there may be a local rescue group for you to be associated with.
Here in the southeast, there are at least two clubs that I am aware of.
Unfortunately, I haven't heard from either one of them for donkey's years,
although I was a member of both. We had been working with a rescue group
out of Georgia, but the woman running it had to step down due to personal
reasons. So, where did that leave me? I contacted GPCA rescue group, and
they put me in contact with a wonderful woman who is working out of North
Carolina. So far, with her assistance, we have placed the last three Pyrs
that we were fostering. We generally get involved with fostering,
transporting, and checking out prospective homes in our area. It is
organised and well run, but I know it's a LOT of work for this woman. I
admire her greatly, and am glad we can help in our own small way.
