Luckily for Eliza, Olympia, and myself, Southwest Houston got minimal rain.  
But the flooding situation around the city went beyond what words can 
describe.  One man stayed on the roof of his mobile home with his nine dogs 
for two nights without food or (drinking) water.  Special Pals, a non-kill 
shelter, was out in boats trying to rescue anaimals that were loose and will 
house them until their owners are in a position to take them back.  And 
there were the horror stories of pets and livestock that did not survive.  I 
don't think I could go off and leave my girls, but there were not many 
shelters accepting pets.  I guess it is important to have a plan just in 
case.
