An interesting observation, Cindy. I've seen a couple of suspected
Pyr/Anatolian mixes, and well as photos of confirmed mixes, and it does
appear that the Pyr comes through very strongly. The ones I have seen
have a Pyr body and coat, as well as double dews. (The Anatolian
standard says double dews are acceptable, so they obviously can appear
in that breed as well.) The main difference is in the head, as the mixes
carry a lot more color than what you would expect to see in a Pyr. The
head shape and eyes also may or may not be somewhat different than a
purebred Pyr. One of the two I have seen has a Pyrenean head shape and
eyes. In fact, except for the color, I would think he was purebred,
though not a good one (and I suppose he MIGHT be). The other had a
slightly different head shape and eyes that were "colder" and just not
right for a Pyr. Both of these dogs were also definitely on the small
side for a Pyr.
There also may or may not be differences in temperament. The ones I've
seen are very sweet, but I've heard other people who have dealt with
them say they can be somewhat sharper.
