Yup, one of the resons it is not recommended that you leave them on. Must
admit I generally don't leave collars on dogs when they are in crates. But
then they are only usually in them at Shows. I haven't had a problem with
their general rolled leather 'tag collars'. But then I do keep these collars
real loose. If they ever got caught on anything, they would just slip
straight off! They are all microchipped too. As of last year, it is law
here now that all dogs be microchipped. The state government (New South
Wales) has just introduced a lifetime register for all dogs and cats. They
are in the process of phasing it in, but all dogs must now be microchipped
by 3 months (and breeders must do it before pups go to new homes I think).
Owners of older dogs have a 3 year grace period to get it done.
