I have had some very limited success with using a different
command when the dog(s) have gotten out. Most of mine forget
their names also and think that the command "come" means "run as
fast as you can in the opposite direction"! What has worked for
me in a few instances is the "Sit" command. They have stopped and
sat. Luckily, I've only had to do this a couple of times over the
years. The one time this did not work I used "Do you want to go
for a walk?" In my usual happy "let's go for a walk" tone. worked
like a charm.
