<< Hi gang,
I'm looking for a good dry shampoo for my gang.
It's getting too cold for regular bathing and the kids
are getting *very stinky from playing with each other.
I guess that lovely odor is dried saliva :-p
I looked at Petco today but didn't find anything
I thought was more then just a perfume.
Is this all that's available in dry shampoos?
Are they only a 'cover-up'? >>
The only experience I had with a dry shampoo I found distasteful to say the
least. It just seemed like sprinkling baby powder on them. (Baby Powder has
beeen used by some people ON PEOPLE who cannot shampoo because of injuries,
etc. You have to be sure not to inhale it though!! Dangerous for lungs to
inhale it!!) The dry shampoo I used I felt was just gunking up the dog more.
(This was what the disabled vet with the Newf that knew 102 tricks had to
clean him. When I offered to groom the dog for him this is what he had me
use. I hated it! Of course the Newf's coat is a olier coat and maybe that's
why it seemed to gunk up more. Plus the dust from it I found distasteful after
you were done with the dry shampoo. I am more sensitive than most, though.
Finally I sent my son to go get what I use a lot and used it on his Newf and
the guy was thrilled with how it worked and smelled and how it conditioned the
coat, too. He was going to go buy some the next day!!)
What was it that I did like so well for in-between baths use? I like
"Crazy Dog brand Pina Colada scented Grooming Spray For Dogs" by Cardinal
Laboratories. I really like it and it makes their coat so soft and it smells
great!! They have other scents, too: Baby Powder, Green Apple, & Wild
Cherry. This is a liquid spray that you spray on the dog and then comb or
brush through and let dry and then brush again. It can be found at PetSmart
and I think PetCo, too. It is also available through mail order catalogs.
Here is the website for it: (click on blue print)

They also make a Cedar Spray that's available in their Natural Pet Botanics
line, but I haven't ever used it. You can find out about it at the same
website.
Maybe others have had differeent experiences with dry shampoos, but I did
not like it.
