Re: [PyrNet-L] Tellington Touch
Janice,
Just from the reactions of Angel and Reno, after using TTouch on them seems to
relax them while trying to teach them various things. I use the TTouch every
day with them and before any type of training plus after training. Angel, our
pyr, will come over to me, and flop down on her back as though to say, "TTouch
me please." Dogs seem so much more relaxed and capable of doing training
lessons after a TTouch session. In my way of thinking, the dogs learn lessons
out of love and not fear. The way clicker training has been described to me
sounds very much like TTouch teaches. The dogs are rewarded for doing what
they are asked to do.
What I despise is the trainers who put choke collars and pinch collars on dogs
and practically strangle them if the dog doesn't obey. I guess I just feel
that a dog will respond very quickly to learn what is being taught, if the dog
has a strong bond of love with the master.
When I spoke out against the lady who said she would be damned if she was
going to get on the floor and talk to her dog, I said I was sorry for her. I
didn't mean to insult her when I told her to get down on the floor and talk to
her dog. But, when I am on the floor and doing a TTouch session with our
dogs, naturally I talk to them. Sometimes they listen and sometimes their
eyes close and even start snoring,
I find that people who have goldens somehow think they own a superior breed of
dog that responds to commands. I dont find that the case at all. Reno is a
golden and I dont think he responds any faster than Angel. The main thing I
have found is that if any dog bonds very close to his or her owner, then they
WANT to do what they are being told to do.
Have a great Sunday,
Dave
