[PyrNet-L] CHAT: pyr paw pat

I agree that the pyr paw pat can be them wanting more attention and that's
probably the way I see it used the most....but I think they also use it a
number of other ways, as well. Or at least Albert does. Sometimes it seems
like a game like the one where you keep covering each others hands over and
over - a kind of King Of The Hill with hands! Seems a little bit of a Alpha
thing that I see Albert use a lot when I'm trying to train him. Or maybe he's
trying to distract me from training. He uses more strength with it and is very
determined that his paw be on top!! Other times it's a kind of teasing game
kind of like brothers do when they touch each other just to bug each other:
"But Mom! All I did was touch him. I didn't do it hard enough to hurt him!!"
Or like when kids divide a room up and each have their sides with the
invisible line down the middle, but one can't help but put his foot on the
other's side just to bug them!! Albert uses this with the cat!! He usually
doesn't even actually touch the cat with his paw: he paws the couch the cat is
laying on or the human's leg or lap the cat is on and it is accompanied by
various barks, growls, whines, and play bows and his Thumping Dance where he
rears up on hind legs and thumps front feet on floor hard!! Over and over
moving to the side a little each time. (Albert is actually scared of this
cat!!) Cat rules the roost, but Albert sure puts on a show, often a very macho
one, but no one is at all convinced by it!! Cat will act calm and relaxed and
even bored through it all! Sometimes the cat will allow Albert to nuzzle him
or kiss him or lick his ears, but Alberet is ever alert for that cat's paw to
be lifted up!! If it is... Albert is outa there!!
