Re: [PyrNet-L] Debate; Chat: Cornering Dog and Responses
I have to agree with others who have commented on the tone of this
"debate"--particularly the extent to which one or two off-the-cuff angry
and vitriolic comments can dominate and change the nature of what I have
always experienced as a particularly helpful and engaging list discussion.
Of course there's room here for advice, for challenging one another, for
different opinions, but generally we do that with a tone of civility, and
with genuine efforts to help one another do our best with this breed we
all love. I don't choose to spend my leisure time....or any other time, if
I can avoid it....in contexts where there's not a sense of mutual respect
among the persons/animals etc. involved. There's altogether too much lack
of same on radio, TV and in the press. It hasn't seemed necessary before,
but perhaps it's time for us to agree upon a few simple ground rules,
*like* responding to people's posts in a respectful manner, whether or not
we agree with them.
