Yes, some of the games are duplicates. risk ans risque
bg and backgammon, gg and grandgammon, etc.
I should have said "it's the best I can quickly throw together in
5 minutes with a little grep, sed and 10 lines of perl"

Yep. The server was "born" on June 8th, 1994 (based on the USENET
news posting announcing it, that you can still find via google groups)
and the first log data is from March 1995... The 9 months in between
are lost, sadly. I only had 5mb of space available on netcom.com
and had to choose between game files, new game src and archives.
in fact, I left netcom (and moved it to my office machine) when I was
constantly hitting the 5mb barrier, but still wanted to add more game
types.
And then there was the great memorial day crash of <whatever year it was>
where we lost everything (except the source, thankfully) yep. lost
2 of the 3 hard drives on the machine at the same time!
