Jeff,

The dual-stat solution sounds like way too much work to me! Pick a system
and go with it is my advice. (YMMV, of course.)

On the detail issue, I will direct your attention to a little essay I
wrote about character detail:

http://jnryoung.home.attbi.com/j/sw/detail.html

Now, this isn't addressing "system" detail, but it does point out that you
have as much influence over a SW character as you do in a certain other,
popular system. And the full rules will have a bit more of the system
detail than what we've seen, which should make it a bit crunchier, but not
too much so, if I'm reading Shane's hints correctly.

And as others have pointed out, I'd rather put my detail efforts into
character and NPC personalities and the setting than into rules-required
details. I realize that isn't for everyone, but it might just be
liberating for some to realize that characters can be just as interesting
if we replace a 4-page character sheet with a 1-page sheet and then write
3 pages of background and personality. Now, some people are already
writing that background with the 4-pager, and for them, well, you gotta
play what you like, right?

Apologies to those also on the SW list that have already heard all this
from me.

Jason
