A friend of mine is doing soomething like your Reckoning setting change, but is starting his game when the bombs drop for HoE. He plans to run the game through the 13 years after the bombs, and finish it off with "The Unity" and possibly Lost Colonies. It looks to be a very fun game, and will be really cool because we all started with HoE.

I haven't... My only major 'alternate setting' for Deadlands has been
the idea of running a campaign set in 1863 as he Reckoning begins.
However, have you checked out the Savage Worlds previews on the
Pinnacle Web Site? It is a stripped variant of the Deadlands/GRW core
and has a lot of the wild west 'edge' removed (accents on skill names,
etc.) and fantasy bits included. It's also built to run faster in
combat than the Deadlands core and allow PC-controlled mooks easily as
needed.
