O.K., I'm keeping this on-list in case anyone else is having these problems.
That being said, here's what Thomas Clegg had to say about it relatively

Hmm... seems like I came across the solution to the 430 error at least a
while back. I think it has something to do with what MDAC components you
have installed on your machine. I think I have the latest, and I don't get
that problem.

Now, I've not had that problem, but you might want to check Microsoft's site
again to see if you can find the latest MDAC components. If you do, you
install them, and it still doesn't work, please let me/us know either here
or at our Yahoo group, which is at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dlcgp/ .
