I was curious about something in the gaming industry, particulaly, how
you guys do it (and if this is one of your "making of" segments that I
missed, steer me that way). What do you do to test play a new game
setting? I'm working on a non-Deadlands setting for my players, but I'm
still using the Deadlands rules. For instance, when you started HoE, you
already had the basic rules from the Weird West, but it was a whole new
world witha new story, new weapons and new powers. what sort of things do
you watch for as you test it? Do you playa short adventure, or do you
just have skirmish battles? Do you take note? Do you record it? Survey
the players? Consult a psychic? Seriously, though. What do you do when
playing a game you have in development?

We play, and play, and play. Mostly we just run a normal campaign and see what comes up. We make sure to all the arcane backgrounds in the game, test out any sub-systems, and the like, and so on, but we do it within a "typical" campaign.
Savage Worlds is a bit different. We've played I guess 50 different genres now.
