[HOE] New Hindrance: Dubbed

Hindrance: Dubbed 2
Your character has learned English from old dubbed kung fu
movies. Through a
combination of amateur ventriloquism and mouth exercises, your unknowing
brainer
speaks in what he THINKS is perfect English, but is in fact a collection of
poorly translated sound bites that somehow manage to not sync up with his lip
movements.
Although fascinating to watch, after a while, this really starts to creep
others out. Gain a -2 to any persuasion checks where the target is close
enough
to notice your lips are outpacing your vocal cords.
Your native language must be something other than English, yet you must
begin
the game with "English: 1." Over time, your character will of course realize
his mistake; after 3 months in the states (assuming you speak to others with at
least English: 2 at least once a week) you may buy off this hindrance at the
normal cost. Indeed, you MUST buy this hindrance off if you'd like to rise
above "English: 1."
Martial artists are the most likely exhibitors of this strange mode of
speech. In fact, they have been known to use it to their advantage: any
overawe
checks involving speech made during a battle in which your "Dubbed" character
has used martial arts are at +1.
