This sorta came up in the movie "Pitch Black" It's not really adressed in 
the movie, but there is a quick shot of the pilgrams praying, faceing in 
four directions becuse they did not know which way to pray. On the directors 
comentary track he talks about it breifly. Personaly, I'd say towards where 
the sun rises.
