Re: [HOE] Web site update and Whats the Secret Book
Actually, it's the OFFICIAL future. Or at least that's the way I read it.
There can be other futures if you wish, but HOE is the "canon" future, for
what it's worth.
Anyway, my personal theory as to what the "big secret" is...

I

E
...Well, judging by the info in Iron Oasis we know that:
A). Darious Hellstrome is alive and well. Sorta.
B). There's a big secret thing he's intrusted to the leader of the Gonzers,
one that they need access to the Hellstrome main office in Junkyard for.
C). An enormous ammount of power was gained when the shield that protected
Junkyard absorbed the nuclear blasts aimed at it. The energy's in storage,
but nobody knows what for.
D). I THINK it's a safe bet to assume Hellstrome is no longer friends with
the Reckoners. I would wager he even wants revenge.
E). The event has to easily lead into Lost Colony.
My theory? Hellstrome has some kind of massive colony ship or
transportation device based on the Gate project that led to initial contact
with the Faraway system. Assuming that the right people (those with the
right scientific training, which could be the Gonzers) gets access to the
setup, Hellstrome is going to try to get every last human being
shipped/teleported to the only other inhabitable world there is: Banshee.
What does this accomplish? Well, from the average survivor's point of view,
not much. Banshee is still a violent, desolate place with lots of hungry
wildlife.
But no humans left on Earth means no more fear being generated. Which means
the Reckoners get stuck on Earth to "suffocate." They may be able to place
ghost rock on Banshee, but can they move there themselves?
Will everyone even make it to Banshee? Who knows. Some folks might get
stuck behind to "hold down the fort" while a group of people try to reopen
the Gate from Banshee's side and reestablish ties between the two planets.
Perhaps if the anouks can see exactly WHAT put the strange black stone that
the hairy critters want so much, they might turn some of their attention
towards the bigger targets.
Just a theory, at least.

win).
