  From the 2nd ed. Deadlands books - remember, PEG is consolidating the 
rules into one format.

"Wind - A character can also spend chips to regain Wind he's lost.  Assume 
new Wind damage is negated before it has any adverse effects (such as 
knocking a hero out or killing him).  This can be done as it's taken (such 
as when a wound is taken or brawling damage is dealt), or even later on in 
a fight several rounds after the Wind was lost.  Hey, we're talking heroes 
here."
