Re: [HOE] Do Harrowed really get better with age?

I agree. The very fact that Harrowed exist is not because they are somehow
physically able to return from the dead--it is because a manitou has taken
up residence and the Harrowed's powers are therefore supernatural in origin.
A crumbly, dessicated Harrowed can be as strong as a bull not because of
muscle mass (there may not be much left), but because the manitou within is
generating (lending) the power.

This brings up a thought I've had for some time regarding "unbalancing"
characters. The opinions always range from "I don't even let them
(Harrowed, Doomsayers, Cyborgs, etc.) into the game," to "How do I stop one
of my PCs unbeatable (Harrowed, Doomsayer, Cyborg, etc.)" which takes the
focus and responsibility completely away from the foundation of the
game--the gamers themselves. If a certain dynamic between the GM and the
players (and amongst the players) doesn't exist, then what's the point of
gaming? The definition of attrition is "A gradual diminution in number or
strength because of constant stress," which is also applicable to membership
in an organization. Players get fed up, the GM gets fed up--but what
happens to the player with the uber-harrowed-cyborg-doomie? The only thing
unbalancing in an RPG are the players themselves. We friends here or what?

I'd say that a Harrowed shouldn't have much of a problem improving

As for the physical traits, there's a lot one can do in those fields that
doesn't involve altering the body permanently.
