I would say that they aren't cumulative.  Both the powers and the machine
have an effect on the original state of the deader, but I don't see how a
manitou is going to bestow power on a machine to make it better, or how a
booster is going to raise a manitou's ability.
Part of this is that I've seen how annoying the ability bonuses can get
in this game when they're abused and allowed to go through the roof.  One
thing that I really admire the d20 system for is curbing that, by saying
that certain types of bonuses aren't cumulative.

Or, if you want to take a more lenient stance, you could say that a
booster that raises a Trai by a certain number of die types will work
with Supernatural Trait, but not one like Samson, that just boosts it to
a certain level.
