Hm. That's probably up to the player and the Marshal. I'd say that side effects
which don't directly interfere with with the device's primary function are OK;
EG, a sonar mapping device which irritates the Hell out of devil bats and other
animals with high hearing ranges still works fine in its intended purpose, a
similar device which sometimes malfunctions and shows phantom images or misses
objects that are present does not.
