Actually, I think the hokiness is part of Lexx's charm, and is in fact
probably at least a little bit intentional.  Lexx is a damn cool show, even
if they did go from the delightful Eva Habermann  as Zev to Xenia Seeberg
playing Xev.  Xenia's good, but not nearly as good as Eva.  The insect angle
could be really good , especially when used in conjunction with Toxic
Shamans of the Insect persuasion.  Kai would have to be done as some sort of
experimental prototype, since he's not animated by a manitou, but rather by
the protoblood itself.  Without that, he just stops moving completely— he
freezes in place.  The protoblood is also what allows him to do things like
cut off his own head (or anything else) and reattach it.  His brace would
have to be more limited than it is in the show, though, unless you decided
to develop nanotech that gave him reach as unlimited as that on the show (as
he seems to be able to reach into orbit with that thing).
