[HOE] The Librarian's Almanac for January 10th

NEAR BEAUMONT, TEXAS- Red Feathers, a vagabond gunslinger arrives and has
called for a public meeting of the town advisors. He is carrying a message
from a small mutie enclave living the Sabine National forests on the north
Texas-Louisiana border. The poor muties are suffering under the one-two
punch of a withering disease infecting most of their number compounded by
regular assaults by a group of Toxic Shamans and their followers. Red
Feathers is offering to organize a posse of healers and fighting folks to
try and get the Toxics off the mutant's collective backsides. In return, the
tribe is offering the location of an undiscovered oil pumping station, deep
in the forest's heart.

LOST CABIN, WYOMING- Old Deuteronomy, a pacifist member of the Cult of Doom,
is looking to assemble a pack of reinforcements for the village of Tower
Junction in the old Yellowstone National Park. Old Deuteronomy was mediating
between the Junction Guards and a pack of mutants in a dispute over trapper
lines when the town was nearly buried in a swift blizzard. The Doomsayer is
looking for non-perishable foods and clothing for both the villagers and the
mutant tribe.

CASTLE ROCK, SOUTH DAKOTA- two members of a local scavvie crew have returned
to the enclave with some troubling news. While picking through the ruins of
the Wyoming State capitol of Cheyenne, the scavengers uncovered a crew of
Black Hats supervising the renovation of a wrecked National Guard base. The
crew noted that most of the labor is being done by a force of slaves
numbering well over fifty, with only twenty or so supervising Hats. The
slaves are installing a large number of fuel tanks and heavy machinery. The
assumption is that the Combine is starting to build outposts. This may be
the first in a series of emplacements as the forces of General Throckmorton
start across the country.

ST. LOUIS RUINS, MISSOURI-Andrew Cunningham, Mayor of the Raft City of St.
Louis, is logging a report of the sound of automatic gunfire and grenade
explosions form somewhere in the western ruins of the city. The townies have
little weaponry among them but there are too many civilians to contemplate
an evacuation. The mayor is offering a fully reconditioned recreational
watercraft to anyone brave enough to investigate the noise.
