I'll pipe-up and add my voice to this. I've been a gamer for some time and
seen many games come and go, or change hands to become something I don't
want to play anymore. While some won't agree with me, but IMHO there have
been three good men who fought their buts off to make their games work.
First was Mark Rein*Hagen. He made a game with some interesting insights and
twists on being human. The flavor and mood of the game moved me. I got into
Vampire and loved it (thought I'm more a hunter fan {not HtR, just
hunters}). After time went on people came and left the White Wolf fold.
Eventually Mark lost his hold on the company (I not going to go into the
'why's and what-for's' or place the blame on anyone).
Steve Long just recently lost his company (and I don't what to dredge that
up), but unlike others he has refused to let his fans go thirsty. Using his
own money he put out some of the projects he had on the net. While he
continues to support his fans he will have to move on. [I know you read this
Steve and if I haven't said so in the past I'll say it now...Thank you.]
With everything I've read over the last couple of years Shane has stumbled a
few time but has never lost the ball for Deadlands. Should the deal with CG
be the end of the quality of the game or the end of PEG, Shane has done what
he thought was best to keep Deadlands alive and his fans informed. If this
is the end I don't have any hard feelings for Shane, only thanks for what he
gave us (like Steve).
To the gentleman that labeled Shane a "sell-out", I'm sorry you've never had
something that you loved and had to do things you didn't want to keep it
alive. Maybe then you'd know where Shane is coming from. You never know what
you have to do when you the one in the hot seat, and from our views it's too
close to Hindsight, and you know what they say about Hindsight!
