I actually kind of liked the damage being based off of spirit, since it is
a mental projection. In which case I would think:
spirit damage
no DB (immaterial)
no str. bonus
keep the AP
This of course goes against your choice, but its just my opinion/taste.
Another option would be to go a little more afield and say that it is not
analagous to brain blast and is instead a pure psychic weapon. Then it
would not effect inanimate objects (but it would effect things like
walking dead as they have a spirit controling them, it effects the spirit,
not the mind). To balance this neg. the blade would ignore all non-magic
armor and indeed all non-living/non-magic material. This could make for
some interesting situations (punching through walls and such), but would
make the power much more unique. Might up the power to where it should
cost more or have a TN 7 though...

Given that it doesn't have the heft of a sword it's own skill seems to be
warranted, but you could always default to fightin:brawlin in a pinch...
