Well the size of the gun and the ammo type it uses determines the damage and
difficulty it takes to build it. Without scouring the Junker rules I would say
that it's possible. Is it a slug thrower or is it an energy weapon and how large
is it? The best way if you aren't sure is get the stats from your player and
post them. I am sure there will be plenty of us here willing to "check" the
figures. And then argue over them. :) hehe
Now my erstwhile assistant (and posse Junker) behind me has dug into the book
and she says that is is possible after a quick glance through the rules. A belt
fed weapon, Range Inc. of 50, ROF of 15 and damage of 5D8 (solid slug) is frame
size 4. Or about the size of a light machine gun. Or equivalent to the US Army
M60. The M60 weighs in at 23 pounds empty and is 43 inches long. It is not tiny
but is is manageable for a single person.
If the weapon is clip fed the Junker rules bump it up one size. (Its a bit much
but these are the rules.) This is about the size of a heavy machine gun or a
small fridge. A Heavy machine gun is equivalent to an M2HB. The US Army's .50
cal. And those weigh in at roughly 65 pounds. Or 128 pounds with the tripod you
_have_ to have to fire them. There are no hard rules listed for recoil
compensation in the Gunsmith power.
Pg. 23 Wasted West has the rules for recoil compensators as: "A compensator
equipped weapon subtracts -1 from the recoil modifier for firing additional
bursts or double taps. Attaching a compensator requires an Onerous (7)
Trade:Weaponssmith roll."
Please note. All this is simply through the Gunsmith power and doesn't cover
any energy type blasters or such.
