[HOE] Unlimited Doomsayer spells (???)

Greetings and salutations,

Ive been doing a lot of thinking lately about radpriests and perachers
lately. It has come about with the new ed of D+D.

A long time ago, I new a DM that said that he didn't allow his priest
players to choose any spells during creation. However, if the priest needed
a little help from above, the player would "pray" and her patron would giv
whatever help he thought they needed (or desreved)

In a way I like this system, because it aligns nicely with my own beliefe
system (God gives to you what you need, nothing less,) And it would make
sense for a Preacher (or a Telavangilist in HoE's case) but what about a
Doomsayer? Would that over power them? Would that limit them? I could see
the glows saying "I know my child that you wish to smite those black hats
with atomic blast, but there is a better way, and for the sake of you and
all invovled you must seek a better solution (and hurry, they are almost on
top of you)"

The system would still require a faith roll (to see if you ask for the right
thing in the right way - using the standard TN) but then the GM decides what
would be most approprite. The Marshal would have to take into account how
well the player is keeping the faith, and if there is a laspe, if there was
a good reason for it (aftert all, the Glows did choose these people, that
means they have something inside of them that has worth and value) Then
unleash the miricle. I do realize that this is open to Marshal abuse, but a
marshal could abuse anything in this game, so that really doesn't mean
anything.

So, to get to the sharp and dangerous point, Should Marshals not allow
Doomsayers to pick their miricles but instead chose approprite miricles from
the whole list for them as the situation dictates?

Good luck, and let the typing begin
