Well I have you beat by a year.  I'm 34 and live in E. Stroudsburg PA.  I
also started with three book D&D (the one you really needed chainmail to
play) around 78'-79'  IIRC. You see...the mind starts going when you get to
be my age ;-)  Of course I pretty quickly switched to AD&D.
