I wondered about that later. *shrug* With manitou possession, timing is
everything. :) As someone else noted, having him toss the keys out during
the earlier attack would work.

Part of it depends on what color chip you want to spend and therefore the
duration you want. Big difference between what the manitou can do in 10
seconds or 10 minutes.

And it also depends on...well, how brutal you want to be. :) I assume the
group knows he's Harrowed? If not, he could simply fake losing all his wind
or failing a stun recovery check. He doesn't do anything, the party has
someone waste a turn doing first aid.

If it looks like the group is going to lose anyway, have the posssed opened
up on his comrades. That's probably part of the whole "brutal" thing.

Personally, I'd spend a white chip and have it take over for 10 seconds just
as the party is either trying to sneak up on the earlier bunch of war band
types, or when they try to sneak up on Mordeen (or both!). Have it
"accidentally" fail a Sneakin' roll.

Making sure that the Destroyer and none of his bunkies even have a chance of
failing their surprise rolls is probably about the closest you can do to
actually assure a "balanced" combat. I've always found that a PC group with
the element of surprise is about the most "unbalanced" element you can get
in combat. "Oh, look, the Nuke took out 90% of the "balanced" opposition -
darn!"

Hope that helps.
