[HOE] What is wrong with the sourcebook adventures?

I'll chime my two cents in on this one too,

Hell or High Water, is not too bad. It's pretty well done, and The Radiation
screen one is pretty good too.

HOWEVER

all the adventures have some very similar problems. The have the same old
same old plot device of the party doing something because someone asks them
to. That's it. There isn't even any direct threat to the party in any of
them.
The HOE boys can't think of any good ways to get the party started. Being
asked works once or twice, but every time? Not to mention they can't think
of any good way to learn a Servitor's weakness..... and considering they
invented the darn things, this says something.
This on top of the fact that nothing interesting ever happens directly to
the party. They interfere with the bad guys, but the bad guys never interfere
back. That plague in the Doomsayer adventure? Bad guys going after the
party? Nope.
This leads to adventures where the characters are really nothing but
gun-toting spectators. And after a while, this gets very tiresome.

One friend of mine has taken to raiding Ravenloft adventures and Sprucing
them up Deadlands style to solve this very problem. Works very well.
