[HoE] [Goff] HTH Defensive Bonus ?

Here was that question I promised.

Is there any case when someone using a firearm or other ranged weapon _ever_ 
gets a HTH defensive bonus (i.e., Fightin'/Brawlin')?

Interestingly, the now not-Pinnacle BNW apparently takes the approach that 
you _always_ get the bonus, even if you are using firearms, working on a 
computer, etc. (except in very extreme cases).

However, this probably isn't relevant now, and we've never been quite sure.  
If you're using a Pistol, or spitting (i.e., Wormling) or whatever, do you 
get any benefit from your Fightin'/Brawlin' against an incoming HTH attack?
