Upon doing some more research, the problem I'm finding is that there is no 
consistency to which ones are "obvious" and which ones aren't.

Why are Sculpt and Touch of the Doomsayers obvious, but Fusion isn't?

Why is EMP "subtle", but Neutron Blast and Microwaves aren't?

A blanket ruling one way or another would seem to reduce the amount of book 
thumbing that is required...
