I don't really feel the adventures in the source books are "sub-par".
However, the problem I have when they get put into the sourcebooks (like
Brainburners, CoTA, etc.) is that my players BUY the sourcebooks. This
is good for PEG, bad for me. Now I don't want to imply that my players
are dishonest, but I can say with certainty that a couple have
"accidentally" read portions of the marshals only sections of these
books. I think saying that they are familiar with the adventures
contained therein is a pretty safe bet as well. This makes the
adventures "as is" a bit worthless to me. One player actually said to
me regarding Brainburners, "Hey, did you see that brain eater in the
adventure in the back of the book? That was pretty cool." Sigh.
There's at least one in every group I guess. And he wonders why I never
cut him any slack.

Actually, more dime novels would be great. I like them a lot and my
players don't buy them. Using the space in the source books for more
material instead would be preferential. Again, I'm not saying the
adventures are bad just that the back of a sourcebook is perhaps the
wrong place to put them. Maybe binding them together into one
"adventure book" would have been a better route to take. Not a
practical suggestion, but there you go.
