[HoE] Ground Zero
Hi Gang,
In case you missed my post on the GC/GRW list, I am *completely* unsure about
the future of our minis game. The obstacles I must overcome are tremendous,
and I have several other battles to fight as well. I'm afraid I really can't
say why, and I can't tell you why things didn't happen as *I* promised before
(the Halloween release). Believe me, I'd love to say why, but it only points
fingers and makes others look bad (to members of this list), so I will not
say anything except that *everything* that happens around here is ultimately
my responsibility and my fault.
That said, I would appreciate it if those of you on the GRW/GC list would
stop sending me the surveys you guys posted back up there. I cannot look at
any more, and it is too late for them to have any more impact on Ground Zero
(see below). If we do another, it will be with radio buttons and
automatically compiled results (our current server cannot handle those
things--which is why I did it by hand).
That said, I hinted in my previous post that my major concerns about the
minis game are the number of minis games out there now, the hesitancy of
people to get into another system and paint all those damn minis, and the
lack of excitement among our rpg fans. (Around 33% said they could care less.)
If I take a bath on Grim Crusade, we will, frankly, go out of business, or
sell the property to another company and I'll move on to other endeavors. So
while I appreciate your comments, I would ask that you simply be patient and
wait a few weeks until I can figure out what to do *very* carefully and make
an announcement.
Like most game companies (especially game companies *without* a card game
produced in house--yes, card games *still* rule this industry), PEG is still
attempting to pay off incredible debt, deal with declining sales in the RPG
industry, and (for me at least), satisfy the people I've come to know as
friends and fans. This is an *incredible* burden, and while I am happy and
enthusiastic about our future and the irons in the fire that could put us
over the top, I have a *very* difficult 6 months ahead of me.
Our staff is meeting tomorrow at something I've been calling "Ground Zero."
This is where we're all presenting our ideas, figuring out what we're doing
right and wrong, should we allow certain other interested companies to buy
(or buy in), and what products we'll be putting out next year.
I'll let everyone know the results of this very important meeting in 2-3
weeks--or more. I am prone to blurting things out too early, and I don't want
to post any results of this meeting until we've had time to sleep on them,
figure them out, change our minds, entertain offers, and so forth.
Thanks for your patience, gang.
