   One question I have, is this the way he would normally react?   I have to 
agree that his way of doing things might not have helped at all, but if he is 
normally that way then I think Stern would be behind him (after all the rest 
of the party is not likely to be innocent).  Maybe instead of not giving him 
the Greater Power This time you might try and talk with him about how he 
plays the character.
   I think for one that he did a good job at role playing and while not 
working with the group can be a problem it does happen sometimes.
