You may think this is bad but in my part of Ireland their is a legend about
a similair artifact
The tale is based around a crossover game of AD & D with a moderate level
party who have just killed and beheaded a Liche
run into another PC killer party filled with hugely leveled people
The big tough party demanded to know what the other party had. A bright
spark in the other party then replied " Oh its the head of Vecna ! No fewer
than 5 of the other party chopped off their own heads in an attempt to
possess the power of Vecna untill the last one finally figured it out
