I agree. the problem has arisen in my game (in terms of discussion)

factoring in here, too:
what if there are Mutants there and the Doomie is a Hekant? or the Doomie
is purple and they are interested in Joan. There could easily be conflict
there. My group has two Templars, a companion, a Hekant Doomie and a Syker
(Dragons) The Sykers Knee-Jerk reaction is to help people, being a Dragon
(the unit Dragons, no no one is missing a book about Dragons. ;-)). The
Doomie wants to help Mutants. She has an Oath to think of too.
Inevitably, there will be conflict, and I don't want to see a split-up, but
I am not sure what to do. Unless the people are obnoxious the Syker will
want to help and if there are any Muties the Doomie will. So what happens
when one/both of the Templars get pissed and decide not to help. On the
one hand, if my Plot was for the PCs to help/intervene, I'd be tempted to
give the Templars a chip for Roleplaying and tell them to sit back while
those who want to do my adventure do it. But thats not really fair. I am
familiar with a game that encountered problems when the Templar decided to
not help people so the other PCs followed. To me, if the others wanna
help, then they should be able to...perhaps its a weakness of playing a
Templar that sometimes you will do some sitting out if you decided they do
not deserve it.

seems to be the rout the adventures take

I agree.
