I think we need to be careful about people who portray fictional characters
in movies. As has already been mentioned with Chow Yun Fat, sure, he makes
it all look cool but a lot of that "gun magic" is created by
choreographers, cinematographers, editors, directors, etc. PEG's already
opened the door, however... John Wayne is a saint, although supposedly NOT
for all his screen performances but due to real-life incidents.
With that as an example, I suppose it really isn't that hard to tweak
history a bit so Chow Yun Fat saves a hijacked schoolbus in between movie
shoots, or Toshiro Mifune foils a bank robbery while waiting in line to
cash a check. We need to exercise discretion and good judgement, however...
most actors are very nice people but just not anything like the people they
portray on the screen.
On the other hand, in the DL/HOE world a great deal of what happens is
based on perceptions... this is how we get fear levels, after all. With
worldwide mass media, shouldn't it be possible for a personality to be
created through the mass unconsciousness of his/her fans? I mean, hey,
that's more or less how the Reckoners, Fearmongers, and Servitors work,
right? If enough people believe Chow Yun Fat's character is real, then
isn't it possible for that character to assume a physical form and walk
around just like one of the Reckoners?
Again, that can be taken too far if not done rightly. And since the
"reality" ball is now firmly in the Reckoner's court, I imagine it'd be
very easy to warp such a character to their not-so-fluffy purposes.
