Amen, brother! Zombies figure huge in my campaign as well. Use 'em
ALL the time. S'matter of fact, one of the head baddies is based upon
King Zombie from the old "DeadWorld" comic from Caliber. He's a
harrowed type that I'm actually building up as a ROGUE servitor - he's
amassing an army of the dead slowly but surely and has gotten it into
his decaying brainpan that he can do things better that the Horsemen. I
know this probably sounds bizarre, but that's how he was portrayed in
the comic (a sorcerous intelligent zombie in sunglasses on a Harley that
was bent on ruling earth by wresting it away from the powers that
created him). The posse hasn't actually even seen him yet - they've just
seen some of his handiwork. One of the characters has a psychic
connection to him because he accidentally stumbled across King Zombie's
biker jacket (a neat relic I came up with, but I can't get into it here)
and has been having rather bizarre dreams that he's having difficulty
explaining to the rest of the group. Needless to say old KZ wants the
jacket back...
For any interested parties (not sure how many of you are comic fans
- I'm assuming a few), the "DeadWorld" storyline is being revisited with
the "King Zombie" (yep, he's got his own title) comic from Caliber
Comics, along with, to a lesser extent, another zombie title called
"The Dead" from Arrow Comics. "The Dead" is kind of trippy. If you
send these guys money, you can be a character in the comic. Depending
on the amount you can be a hero of your own storyline, a featured zombie
or random zombie chow. Weird, huh? There's a market for everything I
guess. Another recent zombie comic is the aptly named "Zombie World"
from Dark Horse. Different story lines by different artists in the same
zombie setting. All of this is good zombie inspired source material for
you to...*ahem*...chew on. Unfortunately, these aren't exactly your
regular stock items for most comic stores and seemed to be published on
a "when we get to it" basis, so you'd probably have to find them onlive
somewhere or special order them from your local store.
