Here's a better fix, then...
Go back to the *original* Huckster rules, before the Kinder, gentler
backlash.
PEG changed it a bit in H&H because people complained that it was too hard
to play a  Huckster.  Now you're complaining that (compared to DL) HoE
Hucksters are too hard.  Go back to the Original rules and (with the
exception of the +4 for backlash), you have about as much parity as can be
expected in a game where the good guys have already lost!

Besides, if you ever Marshalled a Huckster in DL, you would know that it
still isn't a walk in the park, either.  A slight change in theory (the
percentages), won't really make that much of a difference in practice.
