Re: [HoE] Templar Bad Behavior?

I would say that the Bloodthirsty hindrance could let the Templar "sidestep"
the penalties for this were it in the chaos of combat or in hasty reaction
to surprise. Say as the savages are scattering into the forest the Templar
notices the boy trying to escape and in the blood rage of the moment runs
him through... ok... I'd let this go, but make sure the Templar felt bad
about it later... or if the savage as they question him makes a sudden
movement and the tempera's gut response is to lunge at him with his sword.
OK. Once again, I'd let that slide and give a good description of how the
boy gasps in agony, clutches at the blade that has impaled him, and his eyes
open wide and staring in innocence at the Templar whispers "why..." as he
slumps to the ground and dies... Make the Templar feel a little regret.
Maybe have the boys sister who was hiding in the woods come running out and
collapse crying next to the body.

But if he calmly and collectedly ran through a young savage purely on the
grounds that the savages were hungry and trying to survive... I'd think that
was pushing the code a bit. If he was obviously dressed in the garb of a
Templar have a witness to the situation start talking about how a Templar
and a bunch of his goons killed a poor savage boy. Maybe another Templar
hears the story and comes around to check on this Templar... make sure he
hasn't gone bad...

If he had proof that the savage was guilty of some wrongdoing, or had been
involved in some sinister plot, I could see reasonable judgement... unless
he felt with no reasonable doubt that if the savage boy lived that the rest
of the tribe would come back and kill the party.

I think a more rational thing to do would be to convince the boy that
stealing is wrong and try and find a way to teach them how to hunt or fish
or grow food. Maybe find a local village to take some of the young savages
into their ward. Or just let him go on his way with a warning.

I don't know about the servitor points though... the party member would have
to do something I considered "truly evil". Like raping, pillaging,
plundering... not just killing someone who you defended yourself from
earlier. But actually going out of your way to spread misery and suffering
among innocents.

Just my 2 bottle caps.
