Maybe I'm missing a beat here, but why do we want to keep people from
playing them? When I run a game the goal is to have the players run
characters they WANT to play. Now, its one thing if someone wants to
run a Ninja Turtle or superhero, but if they want to run an existing Deadlands
type that isn't prominent in HoE, more power to them. It will be a much
better game for all than if you insist they play something they don't like.
OTOH, if you as GM want to discourage as opposed to deny certain types,
then you are certainly free to point out the drawbacks to certain types and
then whup the character upside the head with them at every opportunity. :)
