Re: [HoE] So, who's on?

abominations/monsters/etc. did not come out between 1876 and 2081?

Not necessarily. If you assume that abominations are reasonably infrequent,
the government has been actively surpressing knowledge of these creatures, and
that the human mind is predisposed to disbelieve the unbelievable (If some guy
comes up to you on the street and tells you there really ARE monsters in the
world, chances are you call the police).

Reports of ghosts, for example, are quite frequent, and sometimes very
convincing, not to mention the fact that they have been turning up for
centuries, but most people still don't believe in them. And there isn't
anybody surpressing the reports of a spectre of some poor old (dead) lady that
checks on the kids at night.

Of course, the biggest thing preventing common knowledge of these entities
(Abominations, not ghosts.) is the fact that the very beings capable of
creating them don't WANT there to be common knowledge. (Besides, most
witnesses end up eaten.)
