[DL] Mummies

I watched Bubba Hotep for the first time at the
weekend and enjoyed it enormously; the author Joe R.
Lonsdale is one of those behind the cowpunk genre with
his story 'The Magic Wagon'. The story could be stolen
for a wild west game though quite easily - if you
strip it down to its bare essentials.

[Spoiler Space - as if you need it]

A reanimated Egyptian mummy is a'killen folks.

Mentioning 'The Magic Wagon' gives a good mechanism
for getting it there - and I think it had a mummy of
sorts as well, that of a famous western gunfighter.
You have a mummy used as a showpiece in a travelling
patent medicine sellers show, either current of
destroyed ? freeing up the mummy.

In fact the mummy could be the medicine as this was a
popular cure in the middle ages though by the 19th
century its use had declined though they were still
used to create artists paint (resulting in one artist
burying his tube of it when he found out mummy really
did come form mummies). See also Tom Holland's books
for more on this.

Red herrings could be recurrent dreams of pyramids,
especially if you hint about vampires and strange
Mexican types to make them think about From Dusk Till
Dawn or one of its sequels that mixes cowboys and
vampires though this was done seventy years ago by
Robert E. Howard.

I quite like the idea of zombiefied villagers
constructing a pyramid for the mummy.

I am sure you can improve upon this grab bag of
half-baked ideas yourselves.
