As a follow-up, Mad Scientists (and Junkers in HOE) are in a similar 
category for me... I'd allow them at the start, but I'd want them to 
have the appropriate books ASAP, and to understand that a LOT of their 
work will need to be done via email. I wouldn't want to regularly slow 
the game down to do an invention when we have wonderful things like 
email... Obviously, spot inventions for specific circumstances amy be 
an exception
