The first two are related, as one causes the other (and, sort of, vice
versa). The latter happens earlier because of events in Doomtown.

Yes, it does if you want it to be a really heated environment. 1876 is the
Union Centennial, hence very strong feelings all around from the
blue-backers. Therefore from the rebels there are going to be equally strong
feelings against those people.

Yes, it's true and no, it's not important to the metaplot. You could set it
in Hell on Earth if you wanted (with slight modification to DuChamp, of
course).
